The Annual General Meeting of the Sunshine Coast Branch of the MLTAQ (Modern Language Teachers’ Association of Queensland) is due to take place on Thursday 9th February at 4 pm in the Conference Room at Maroochydore State (Primary) School. All Languages teachers are warmly invited and light refreshments will be available.
The Branch has experienced something of a resurrection in recent years, establishing an annual Speech Contest for school students in 2008, and a related Poster Competition in 2009. Both activities provided a great platform for promoting the learning of Languages, which is what we’re all about. A writing competition was also introduced in 2011. Further information about the MLTAQ and minutes of our previous meetings are available on www.mltaq.asn.au
The Association brings together and helps support teachers from all sectors of education, and although the demands of our particularly challenging teaching area increase by the day, it seems, I wholeheartedly urge you to join us and reap the benefits to be gained from our meetings. For example, the subject of Language Proficiency Tests for EQ teachers was raised during Term 4 last year. Come along for an update. Attendance at these meetings also contributes towards your hours of Continuing Professional Development. Returning Endeavour Fellows and new teachers on the Sunshine Coast are particularly welcome, to come along and share their experiences, formally and informally.
